Mayu Hojo is a visual artist involved with surface-related mediums such as digital art, collage and painting. His work is reflective of a homebody life, led staring at screens with the days effortlessly disappearing. Within those empty days, he placed himself in a self-reflective stasis in a space that sways between dreaming and dreading. This liminal, and mysterious space is one in which he has found a graceful beauty that inspires his work. With diaried words utilized as motifs to inform the work, he digitally paints and collages to evoke those words into environs.Currently, his work involves larger scale collage that manifests as site-specific installations; They attempt to blend into the architecture as a means to hold a dialogue with himself and the outside world it takes place in. The imagery is fragmented between anime girls, photographs of personal life, digital collage, and painted spaces— all of which inform and build upon each other as a collective reflective of his identity in different contexts.
